Business Card Printing

Printing business cards is a lucrative business nowadays since more companies are being set up. Business cards serve as one of these business marketing tools, especially when meeting colleagues, potential suppliers and clients during events. Along with brochure printing, business cards bear the company’s business information and these are shared every time there is a formal introduction between parties to serve as memory aid. You cannot look past the importance of business cards.

Printing business cards

Business cards are typically printed on card stock, but quality depends on the cost, the desired effect and the method of printing to be applied. The typical weight or thickness of the material your business card will be printed on may change depending on your location, although usually, the paper used for business cards are on 350 g/m2 or 12pt in thickness. Business cards should be given bleeds when they are designed especially if the color is extended to the edge of the cut size. This serves as a guide to ensure that the paper will be cut without the white edges around. The image may shift from page to page of the paper, which is called a bounce. It is usually off by a hairline on an offset press. Bleeds are usually 1⁄8 to 1⁄4 extra for all sides of the card to accommodate these factors.

Full color business cards use sheet fed presses, and use the CMYK printing process. In the CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) four-color printing, each color is overprinted on another to create the complete gamut of color. Check out our logo, those are CMYK colors.

Another way to print business cards is through a digital copier, that bakes the toner onto the card’s surface. Most companies are avoiding the term “copier” because they insist that these state-of-the-art machines are actually similar to digital presses, but lack the quality of offset printing.
